In doing so, the lesson became a platform for student-led teaching and learning. The presenters developed better communication skills. At the same time, the student audience gained a deeper insight into solar technology. Students also showed a greater awareness of Woodgrove's effort to go "green".
Below are some of their thoughts....

ReplyDeleteMatilda:
I learnt that the amount of energy left is getting lesser and lesser
each day.
I will try to explain the details more clearly.
Eka:
I learnt that we have to look for other source of energy.I will speak louder and make sure the students understand what i have said when i am presenting.
Philip:
I had learn that the energy that we are using now is going to run out
in about 50 years time .I will try to improve by teaching the class
more detailly about the topic.
Ang Kai:
I learned that we have limited fossil fuels and we have to conserve it.
Thus in the future i will explain the topics in fuller detail.
Class response:
Students of the class asked a lot of questions. However, the some of them would ask irrelevent questions. They were attentive during the period.
Ernest: The lesson was fun and interesting as we can get to move around the school to various places to learn. We learnt that our energy resources are limited and we have to conserve them.
ReplyDeleteLay Kiat: I enjoyed the project very much as the groups were very attentive and helpful as they asked a lot of questions. Thus I enjoyed "teaching" them. Most of them were very responsive but some of them were talking among themselves. Overall,it was fun teaching but it is very tiring.
Emilia: I learnt a lot about solar and clean energy. I think that it is very difficult to teach a class, as some of the students are not attentive. Some of them are also not responsive. Overall, I think that the lesson is fun!
Yuanzhi: I understand more about solar water fountain. I understand that non-rewnewable energy is limited and will run out soon. I learnt that we are relying too much on coal and natural gases. It is difficult to teach a class. The groups were attentive and asked a lot of questions. It can be quite noisy if they are talking to each other. I felt that teaching is fun and interesting.

ReplyDeleteWen Jie:Being a teacher is hard work but fun. I have learnt to be confident when speaking to a group of people. I always stammer when I am speaking in front of alot of people. I will speak louder when I present the next time. The class was not very cooperative when I spoke. they treated me as a friend and not a teacher. I finally know how it feels when a teacher is teaching us but nontheless,I learnt tons of things and it was a wonderful experience.
Emmanuel:Being a teacher is very hard as you need to have enough confidence to speak in front of the whole class is not easy.i will try to speak louder as i have a loud voice but i was not able to say it out.

ReplyDeleteRachel Ngiau: It has been a wonderful experience for me and i believe it was also a very interesting lesson for my friends too. Personally, i love teaching , and when i was given the opportunity to teach my peers, i felt excited. With a little more practice, i am sure that we could perform much better. My friends enjoyed the lesson very much, and hoped to have more of these kinds of lessons in the future. All in all, if i were given another chance to present and teach about the solar water fountain, i would willingly do my best. :)
Teh Feng Kun: Generally, I felt that i have not done a very good job, but i believe with more experience and time, I will defintely do much better. I get to work with my friends with my group to build teamwork to acheive a common goal - to spread knowledge among our peers. I think we can improve if we get together and practice more often. My friends enjoyed the lesson very much, as it is the first time teachers are not teaching in class. Seeing their friends in class to teach them about the solar water fountain made them feel excited. Overall, i feel that the whole activity will be much better if there are more practices. It is a fun experience, though the tiredness of the acitivity.
Enelton: I feel that the whole experience was a meaningful one to me. Through this ordeal, I learnt one thing - it is not easy to be a teacher. In my opinion, conducting the lesson together will be an easier task as there is teamwork, unlike separating into different stations. My friends cheered me on, giving me encouragement when i stammered. I believe that they would like to have more peer teaching. In a nutshell,I learnt that teamwork is the biggest aspect of life... that is why, one of our visions as a Woodgrover. XD
Zhong GUan: After the peer teaching, I was finally relieved that I had completed my task. I feel very stressed when i conducted the lesson as they kept on asking uneccessary questions. Luckily, Mr. Tai, Ms. Tan, Mr Cheng and Mr Flavian were also there to guide me for the first peer-teaching session.
